FAQs

Why hire a doula?
Because doulas are fabulous! If you are not convinced, keep looking because you just haven’t found your doula yet. Research shows that having a doula improves birth outcomes: shorter labors, reduced need for pain medication, lower cesarean rates, and higher satisfaction with the overall birth experience.

Do you attend hospital, birth center, and home births?
Absolutely! I support births wherever you feel safest and most comfortable—hospital, birth center, or at home.

Why work with me?
I’m passionate about blending the psychological and physiological aspects of birth. I tend to develop sisterly, supportive relationships with the families I serve, offering both grounded guidance and heartfelt connection.

Can you take photos during birth?
Yes! While I’m not a professional photographer, I love capturing meaningful moments when the timing feels right and it doesn’t distract from my support role.

What if I want to know your opinion on [xyz]?
My job is to support your choices, not make them. I strive to provide unbiased, evidence-based information. As long as your decisions are informed and safe, I’ll support them 100%, no judgment, just care.

Your contract says you’re on call from 38 to 42 weeks. What if I go into labor outside of that window?
I’ll do my absolute best to be there for you. If I’m truly unavailable, I have a trusted network of backup doulas ready to step in and provide the same level of compassionate support.

What if things don’t go according to my birth plan?
Birth is unpredictable. We’ll discuss your preferences and possible scenarios during our prenatal visits so I can support you through any twists and turns. My focus is helping you feel safe, informed, and empowered no matter what path your birth takes.

I have a partner, will you replace them?
Nope, not at all. I’m here to enhance your partner’s role, not replace it. I encourage them to attend prenatal visits so we can build a strong team dynamic. My goal is to help your partner feel confident, connected, and fully present to support you.
